Stampede Trail
The C+E's main street enabling future commercial and retail development, and the future home to sidewalk patios and new businesses. Designed with gathering in mind, this pedestrian-friendly seam ties together the BMO Centre, the Saddledome, the extended 17th Avenue, the new BMO Convention Centre hotel, arts and culture, and is the main connector into Stampede Park. It’s the hub of The C+E, in the heart of it all.
This four-block section of Stampede Trail from 12 Avenue SE to 17 Avenue SE will transform into a flexible corridor that serves day-to-day traffic needs and an urban place that prioritizes people, place, entertainment, retail and active transportation. This ‘festival street’ can also be closed to traffic to function as flexible community space for special events.

Project Timeline
The project will be built in two phases to enable ongoing operations at the venues on Stampede Park as well as construction on various district projects. Crews will built Phase 1 between 14 Ave and Agriculture Trail in 2023, with timing on Phase 2 between 12 Ave and 14 Ave S.E. assessed as the Event Centre and associated district infrastructure work progress.
“We envision Stampede Trail as the heart of The C+E, the place where guests at the BMO Centre, the future BMO Convention Centre hotel, the Scotiabank Saddledome and other future developments will come to connect after a conference or to celebrate before the big event. It’s a critical connector and a gathering place all in one.”
