6th Street Underpass + District Infrastructure
Ensuring seamless integration of the Event Centre into the hustle and bustle of The C+E, these projects create a critical north-south connection to East Village and the downtown and expand possibilities for future riverfront residential in The District.
This work includes an underpass at 6th Street and streetscape and infrastructure improvements along 14th Avenue, creation of a new street (5A street SE), enhancements up to 25th Avenue, and Stampede Trail. All of which will enable seamless integration of the new Event Centre into The District.
Back in 2011, the 4th Street SE Underpass was the first north- south link between East Village and The C+E. Now, two blocks to the east, an underpass on 6th Street SE will join it. The two portals will flank the future below grade Green Line CTrain station on 11th Avenue SE. Besides making it easy to get in and out of both East Village and the district, it ensures a smooth flow down Stampede Trail, our main street.
